How often have we lost receipts, bills, only to scramble when it's tax season? It's like a scavenger hunt every time. And no idea how many documents I might have missed post-filing. So I built Gofaktur. The routine is simple: when a receipt or invoice comes in, I scan it or drop it in a folder, and then I forget about it. The app extracts the details - vendor, date, amounts, tax category - and stores everything on my own hard disk. On deadline day, a year of receipts turns into one categorised CSV that I can hand to my tax advisor. Easy-peasy, no scrambling. When vision-capable local models like Qwen3-VL and Gemma 4 became good enough to run on my own machine, extraction became a no-brainer. The documents never leave my network. The same app also handles my outgoing invoices - clients, line items, PDF export - so everything financial lives in one place. It is a side project I built for myself, but it works for anyone who wants to manage financial documents on their own disk, with real privacy. And I am continuing to improve the product.
